IT, ITeS M&As touch a crest in Jul-Aug

According to industry watchers, the sector will continue to witness high action in the M&A space even though big ticket acquisitions are expected to be fewer in number. In these two months, the share of the IT/ITeS sector in the overall M&A value has increased to 36% compared to a negligible 4% in the January-June period. The sector also scored high in terms of private equity (PE) investments with the highest number of investments made in the sector in July and August.

TCS-Citi deal expensive, say analysts

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) left behind bidders such as Genpact and IBM to buy out the back-office operations of Citigroup for around Rs.2,400 crore. However, analysts believe that the deal is expensive and many feel that it is an attempt by Citigroup to shore up its revenue in the current financial turmoil.
